„Professor Gyula Vastag: Expertise in Global Operations and Education in Business and Management

Professor Vastag’s areas of interest include global operations and supply chain management, service operations management, and environmental management strategies. In his career, Dr. Vastag, a popular and successful instructor, taught and developed a wide variety of courses and educational programs both in business schools and for corporations. In addition to traditional course delivery, he also taught and developed courses for the Kelley Direct Online MBA Program (Indiana University), designed and managed an action-learning program for the executives of the largest bank in Central Eastern Europe. Dr. Vastag co-authored two books, wrote eight business cases, and he has contributed chapters to 15 books. His papers (30+ refereed journal publications) were published in a variety of peer-reviewed academic and professional journals in the United States and in Europe and in numerous conference proceedings. The h-index of his publications in Harzing’s Publish or Perish (based on 1,157 citations; May 16, 2013) is 16. His work on the competitiveness of metropolitan areas has created interest and was cited in non-academic circles as well. His cases on Sonoco’s take-back policy were selected by CaseNet® as two of the six e-link cases for the 7th edition of Meiners,Ringleb & Edwards Legal Environment of Business. He is Editor of the Pannon Management Review, Associate Editor of the Decision Sciences Journal and serves on the editorial board of the Central European Business Review and Vezetéstudomány.
